Public Transportation

Dart Bus Transportation
With over 130 routes, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) operates local and express buses serving Irving, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glen Heights, Highland Park, Richardson, Rowlett, Plano and University Park. Generally, buses run every 30 minutes in peak hours and every 60 minutes during off-peak hours. A variety of local and regional passes are available to riders.

Irving bus routes connect all parts of Irving and link the city to bus routes into Dallas. Several Irving bus routes connect to the Orange Line, light rail trains traveling to DFW Airport and downtown Dallas, and the Trinity Railway Express, train service between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Printed DART schedules are available at all Irving libraries, City Hall, and area supermarkets. Schedules can also be accessed online at www.DART.org or by calling DART customer service at 214-979-1111.

Trinity Railway Express
The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter train connects the downtown areas of Dallas and Fort Worth, with stops in Irving and DFW Airport. A partnership between Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T), the TRE is an easy and efficient way to travel directly between the two cities. Trains operate Monday through Saturday and regional day passes are available. There is no scheduled service on Sundays.

With stops in Irving’s Heritage District and west Irving, the TRE links visitors not only to Dallas and Fort Worth, but also to the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). At the CentrePort station, travelers can transfer to a free shuttle bus service to DFW’s Remote South parking. At that point, it is an easy transfer to any of DFW Airport’s five terminals. Shuttles depart each destination approximately every 15 minutes.

Once at your destination in either Dallas or Fort Worth, a transfer to DART rail/bus service or The T’s transportation service allows visitors to enjoy each city’s unique attractions and events.

Light Rail Travel
The Dallas Area Rapid Transportation (DART) system makes getting around the Dallas/Fort Worth area quick and efficient. The Orange Line servicing the Irving area also travels to DFW Airport, Dallas’ Love Field Airport, downtown Dallas, the Dallas Arts District, North Dallas and Plano.

With five stops in Irving proper, visitors and residents can travel to the University of Dallas, the Irving Convention Center, the Las Colinas urban and business districts and Northlake College within minutes. Continue riding the rails to the west and the Orange Line delivers you to Terminal A at DFW Airport in less time than it takes to park in the airport’s remote parking. Head south from Irving and the Orange Line takes you to downtown Dallas in under an hour.

Transfers from the Orange Line to DART’s other light rail and bus stations expand visitor accessibility to locations such as the Dallas Zoo, White Rock Lake, Denton and the University of North Texas and even the city of Fort Worth.

Area Personal Transit System (APT)
A quick and easy way to access the businesses, hotels, restaurants and residences located around the Las Colinas Urban Center is the Area Personal Transit (APT) system. The APT is a climate-controlled, on-demand people mover system covering the Urban Center with four passenger stations.

Visitors can travel to Irving via the Orange Line light rail system from downtown Dallas or DFW Airport, exit at the Las Colinas Urban Center Station, and in a matter of minutes board the APT for any of other three route destinations covering the area’s growing residential and business community.

The famous Mustangs of Las Colinas, the Mustang Sculpture Exhibit and the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce are within walking distance from stations at either the Bell Tower or 600 Las Colinas Blvd. Several restaurants and hotels are also located near the APT route.

Irving Public Transportation
Irving has a number of public transportation options including the Dallas Area Rapid Transportation (DART) system, which includes light rail and bus service. The DART Line Rail Orange Line connects Irving with DFW Airport and Downtown Dallas. The DART bus service operates local and express busses to most areas in Irving and Dallas/Fort Worth.
