Tip Leak: Don’t Commit This Internal Linking Sin

One of the first things to realize is that links are meant for users, which means any link that you wouldn’t click on (it’s not obvious, logical, meaningful, and adds value) has less value to users and less value for search engines.
So look at your content. Do you have a link in the first sentence of the first paragraph of your page? Highly unlikely a user would arrive on your page from a search engines and immediately click off (if they do, you may have other issues!) Search engines are smart enough to know this, it’s most likely built into their algorithms because, ultimately, Google wants users to be satisfied. Remove those first sentence links!
