Collectively the employees of any given company have roughly 10X the reach on social media as the company’s corporate channels. Not only is the reach broader, it is also deeper. People trust their own personal and professional connections more than they will ever trust a company social channel. It is also too late to stick our heads in the sand and hope that we can just ignore social media and it will never impact our business.
Clear guidelines and proper training not only help mitigate the risk of someone saying something they shouldn’t but also provide a safe path to help employees understand what sort of messages are most helpful.
Finally, as so many employees remain remote or are in a hybrid environment, digital communication is the forum that brings us all together. Helping employees build skills to use digital communication effectively will increase your employee engagement even if they never log into social media.
