In early 2018, Slattery joined Fast Company, the only media brand fully dedicated to the beat of innovation. Through his rebuilding of the marketing team and strategy, Slattery has been instrumental in the brand’s resurgence, helping generate 50% growth in partnership revenue YoY for the 2018 Fast Company Innovation Festival, and nearly 30% overall revenue growth across the entire media portfolio.
Previously, he spent years leading marketing teams for iconic brands like TIME, Sports Illustrated and FORTUNE, before taking a leadership role in Time Inc.’s corporate ad sales and marketing vertical structure. As CMO of the SI Group, he led marketing and branding for the SI and GOLF portfolios, including SI Kids, FanSided, 120 Sports and SI Films. At SI, he spearheaded the successful re-launch of the Sports Illustrated Podcast Network, and he launched the Sports Illustrated Overtime branded content studio to build award-winning content solutions for top marketers.
Earlier, Slattery spent years as a reporter for Sports Illustrated while also writing feature films for numerous independent producers and documentaries for leading cable outlets. In the 2000s, with TIME, Slattery shepherded marketing of the annual TIME 100 franchise and led marketing for TIME.com. He moved to FORTUNE as VP Marketing in 2012, added responsibility for MONEY in 2013 – and steered marketing for the launch of all-new websites for both of those brands. He is an experienced speaker, moderator and panelist at media and marketing industry events, and is a former instructor in screenwriting at New York University’s school of continuing studies.
